Castro entered Friday's play with the lead at seven under and ensured he would keep at least a share of it with another seven-under in the second round.

He managed to string together a clean day by using a fast start with five birdies on the front nine to build a comfortable cushion to work with.

Three of those birdies came in succession from Nos. 4 to 6; the PGA Tour showed his approach and conversion on No. 5:

Castro's well-rounded afternoon made him all but unstoppable on the course at Crooked Stick, as he posted a driving accuracy percentage of 82.14 and a greens-in-regulation mark of 77.78 percent while gaining 1.898 strokes.

The PGA Tour took a look at his tournament at the end of his round:

At the time of his finish, Castro had a three-stroke lead and was sitting pretty heading into the penultimate round. But that was before Johnson caught fire with a clean round of his own to put together a huge nine-under 63, which was a Crooked Stick course record, per the PGA Tour

His day was headlined by a pair of eagles, one on the front nine and another on the back, as his putting game carried him.

In total, Johnson gained 2.838 strokes on the day, exhibiting his finest putting with a 31-foot birdie putt on No. 14 and a 24-foot eagle putt on No. 15, via the PGA Tour:

His best stretch of play began on the ninth hole and continued over the following six, per the PGA Tour:

Paul Casey sits three strokes behind the leaders and remains in third place for a second straight day after putting together a six-under to settle at 11 under overall.

Casey, who started on the back nine, recorded birdies on every other hole starting at No. 11 before finishing his day with two more on the front.

Among other notable names, world No. 1 Jason Day, No. 3 Rory McIlroy and No. 4 Jordan Spieth are tied at four under and 10 strokes off the lead. Both McIlroy and Spieth went even Friday, while Day scrambled to erase a first-round one-over with a five-under in the second round.
