Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko 2 Rescheduled: Latest Details and Reaction
Tyson Fury's rescheduled rematch with Wladimir Klitschko at the Manchester Arena has been confirmed for Saturday, October 29, after their initial fight in July was postponed because of an ankle injury to the Englishman.
BoxNation's Frank Warren relayed the news on Wednesday:
Fury, 28, beat 40-year-old Klitschko in Germany last November to strip the Ukrainian of his long-held WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles.
Upon the announcement of the rescheduled fight, Klitshcko vowed to right the wrongs of the Dusseldorf bout in Manchester:
Meanwhile, Fury's manager and uncle, Peter, expressed delight at having the date confirmed, per BBC Sport: "I'm delighted that we can finally get the fight back on. We can now focus on giving the fans what they deserve."
He also revealed ticketing details on his Twitter feed:
Before his unanimous-decision defeat to Fury in November, Klitschko had dominated the heavyweight division for over a decade, going undefeated from April 2004.
Fury's victory was a significant shock, and Klitschko will be desperate to prove it was simply a one-off fluke from the self-proclaimed Gypsy King.
For his part, Fury will want to inflict another defeat on the veteran fighter that would likely see Klitschko call time on his impressive career.
The Manchester-born fighter will have the advantage of a home crowd in October, not something he enjoyed in Germany where the majority of the spectators were supporting the Ukrainian.
Fury also has an undefeated record to protect—his professional tally stands at 25-0—while Klitshcko will be looking to avoid the fifth defeat of his career.
