Young DL on Roster Bubble

A 2015 sixth-round pick, Bennett played in 13 games during his rookie season, totaling 10 tackles with 0.5 sacks. This latest injury could provide problems for the 23-year-old as he tries to secure a role on the 53-man roster.
In addition to projected starters Roy Miller and the newly signed Malik Jackson, Jacksonville added a bunch of defensive linemen through the draft. Yannick Ngakoue is more of a pass-rusher, but fourth-round pick Sheldon Day could take playing time away from Bennett.
Jonathan Woodard was also taken in the 2016 draft but tore his Achilles in training camp.
Bennett remained confident as he fought in-house competition, explaining his improvement from his rookie season.
"The technique we were going over last year, with this repetition phase, it started to become second nature, so I don’t really need to think about it all the time," Bennett said in May, per Mike Kaye of WTLV. "This year just feels astronomically better from last year."
Unfortunately, a hip injury kept him out of Week 2 of the preseason, and this latest issue limited him in Week 4.
Bennett was able to tally two tackles, including one for a loss, in the Week 3 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. He will hope this and his work in practice will be enough to keep a spot on the roster.
