Jeremiah Holloman to Georgia: Bulldogs Land 4-Star WR Prospect
Jeremiah Holloman announced his commitment to Georgia on Thursday, giving the Bulldogs a high-upside receiver who can make a big impact at the college level.
In a Christmas-themed video for DawgNation (via Jeff Sentell of DawgNation), Holloman, as well as defensive end Malik Herring, announced they're heading to Athens in 2017.
According to Scout, the 4-star receiver is considered the No. 21 player in the country at his position and No. 147 overall.
Prior to making his decision, Holloman said in an interview with UGASports.com's Jake Reuse the allure of playing close to home—he's a native of Covington, Georgia—was a strong incentive to committing to the Bulldogs.
"It plays a factor being here because I get more relatives and more people I have grown up with here will be able to come to the games," he said.
Holloman has good size for the position at 6'2", 195 pounds. He has the strength to make plays across the middle while also having enough height to make him a threat in the red zone. The strength also helps him bring in balls away from his body, even with a defender in the area.
After factoring in his pure speed off the line of scrimmage, it's clear he can be a complete receiver.
Although he still needs a bit more polish, Holloman was planning all along to go to a place where he can contribute right away. He explained to Bleacher Report's Damon Sayles his mindset about choosing a school in August:
"I don't want a school wanting me just because they know the potential I do have. I also want a place where I feel needed. There are a couple of schools that have a lack of receivers. I also want to be somewhere that has a quarterback I know will deliver the ball and a coaching staff that will push the program to a championship.
"
While he ended up with a program that features a decent amount of depth at receiver, Holloman has the body necessary to step on a college field right away and make an impact.
Recruiting battles at this level are always big, and the Bulldogs got a talented player in Holloman.
