Prelude
You don't want to wait until the game's Sept. 20 release? That's fine, because NBA 2K17 will provide fans with actual game content as of Sept. 9.
The Prelude introduces a preorder bonus feature that allows you to create a player who competes at the college level to boost his stock before the draft. It's not just a demo of the game; you can carry over your success to the real version.
This is a big addition for those who want to get a head start in their virtual careers.
Considering there hasn't been a college basketball video game since 2009, this is an added bonus to be excited about for a large number of fans.
As Samit Sarkar of Polygon pointed out, the apparent list of college teams includes the Arizona Wildcats, Georgetown Hoyas, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Kansas Jayhawks, Illinois Fighting Illini, Louisville Cardinals, Michigan State Spartans, Oklahoma Sooners, Connecticut Huskies and Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
A bonus conversation with Duke and Team USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski provides another extra feature for fans to look forward to.
Friction
The first preview for the game featured exactly what we have come to expect from this label. Not only great graphics, but also a preview of the atmosphere that makes the game a realistic experience for users.
From believable fadeaway jumpers to fully immersed pregame introductions, the creators have done everything to replicate the real-life NBA.
The only problems were from some players who didn't enjoy their ratings:
From the fan perspective, though, the preview was everything you could have asked for.
Meanwhile, there are also improvements to the gameplay, specifically the freedom to make shots on your own, as senior developer Rob Jones explained to Spencer Lund of Uproxx:
"Going to the basket, we never had full control over 'hey, I wanna finish going around you to the left, or I wanna finish going around you to the right. Or I want to go right through you. Or I want to finish with my left hand even though I’m on the right side.' A lot of this control is what we’re giving you this year.
"
It might end up being tougher for players, but the competition level will be high as fans get set to play as their favorite stars.
