Arrogate was in control throughout the race and seemed to have an extra gear down the stretch. TVG shared the replay:
According to David Grening of the Daily Racing Form, Arrogate took down two different records with his transcendent performance:
By outclassing his opponents, the three-year-old dropped plenty of jaws, including that of Blood-Horse editor Eric Mitchell:
Arrogate entered the race as something of an enigma, having never had a stakes start, but he was on a three-race winning streak and proved it wasn't a fluke.
Exaggerator was the odds-on favorite to win on the heels of his Preakness Stakes victory, but he was never a factor, as he remained in the back and finished 11th.
After the disappointing showing, Mike Watchmaker of the Daily Racing Form suggested Exaggerator didn't handle the surface well:
While Exaggerator struggled, Arrogate left no doubt that he was the best horse on the track Saturday, and even a great run from the favorite may not have been enough to change the result.
Baffert potentially has another superstar horse on his hands, and with November's Breeders' Cup on the horizon, Arrogate has a chance to go from unknown to a household name in short order.
