Manchester City Transfer News: Latest Joe Hart and Wilfried Bony Rumours
Joe Hart reportedly won't be signed by Everton during the final days of the summer transfer window because Toffees manager Ronald Koeman thinks the Manchester City goalkeeper is too good to be a backup option.
Hart had been mooted as an Everton target after City completed a deal for former Barcelona stopper Claudio Bravo. However, Koeman has put the brakes on such talk, even though he's admitted to still being on the lookout for a reserve 'keeper, per Greg O'Keeffe of the Liverpool Echo:
"We are still looking for a goalkeeper. We like to have three good goalkeepers. If you have an injury, the manager is not so afraid of the other two but Joe Hart is not a third goalkeeper or a second.

Koeman was defending current Everton No. 1 Maarten Stekelenburg. But his reluctance to sign Hart leaves the England international in limbo during the final days of this window.

City sporting director Txiki Begiristain spoke at the recent draw for the UEFA Champions League group-stage and made clear how the club is keen to find Hart a suitable new home, per the Daily Mirror's Joe Mewis: “Now we have one week and we have to make him [Hart] happy and if he can find a solution and find a club where he has a real chance to play regularly."
Sunderland have emerged as contenders to offer that home, according to Sami Mokbel and Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail. Hart would be certain of regular playing time with the Black Cats, but he many not welcome the north East club's practically annual fight to stave off relegation.
Sunderland are already near the bottom of the Premier League table, having taken just one point from their opening three matches. However, playing time is important for Hart, and he would be a massive help in Sunderland's bid for survival.
West Ham United Want Wilfried Bony
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic wants Wilfried Bony to replace Enner Valencia, according to the Times (h/t Alexandra Porter of the Manchester Evening News): "Bony is apparently his top target, and a loan would suit the Hammers with the two senior players still to come back into the squad."

Bony doesn't have an obvious place at City since Pep Guardiola took over as manager. He's too much of a target man in style for a coach who prizes pace, technique and fluid movement in his forward line.
Yet, Bony still possesses qualities plenty of other clubs in England's top flight would value. He's terrific in the air, mobile and a smart mover in the box.
Even so, the pecking order was already deep ahead of Bony before this summer. It's now deeper still since Guardiola added Spaniard Nolito and Germany international Leroy Sane to his ranks. Both are capable of operating on the flanks or through the middle.
So is incoming Brazilian signing Gabriel Jesus, who will arrive in January. He'll join up with fellow new boys Sane and Nolito to provide support for incumbent main man Sergio Aguero and dynamic 19-year-old Kelechi Iheanacho.

So it makes sense for Bony to look for a new club. Even a loan deal would suit City as Guardiola needs to trim the squad during the final days of the window.
City have spent big this summer as Guardiola remakes the team in his own image. Now is the time to streamline to fit the manager's vision and have exactly the right players in place to challenge for major trophies.
