Recap

Chisnall started the day off with a bang, averaging close to 105 in an 11-8 win over Barney in the semi-finals to move one step closer to his first World Series win.
The two were tied at seven legs apiece before Chizzy broke throw with a maximum and a 100 finish, and he'd lose just one more leg on his way to the final. Finishing at a respectable 41 per cent, he seemed primed to beat Van Gerwen, whose form wasn't the best entering the final day of competition.
Per Live Darts, qualifying for a World Series final was quite the hurdle to overcome:
Van Gerwen easily took care of Snakebite in the other semi-final, running out to a quick 5-1 lead thanks to some excellent finishing. Wright only converted 26 per cent of his chances, explaining why he managed just five legs against Mighty Mike, who averaged just over 97.

He missed five at the double to start the final but proceeded to win three legs in a row to grab a quick 4-1 lead, taking out 76 for the first break. A 14-darter took him to the interval with a 5-2 lead, and an 11-darter gave him a big 8-3 advantage during the second session.
Chizzy would win the next leg, but Mighty Mike saved the best for last, moving to within two legs of the title with a 12-darter and taking out 84 and 61 to grab the win.

Per TABTouch, the Dutchman acknowledged he was far from his best, but he was still happy to walk away with the win:
The title strengthens Van Gerwen's spot at the top of the Order of Merit and sets him up well for the upcoming European Tour and Players Championship events in September. His next major outing will start on September 24, as the Champions League of Darts kicks off in Cardiff, Wales.
