Recap
Chisnall took five legs in a row to open an 8-5 lead against a bewildered Anderson. A 160 checkout put the 35-year-old in control, before Anderson took out 99 to reduce the gap. The Scot then broke throw to make it 8-7 after hitting double-four.
However, Chisnall returned the break in the next leg to give him a chance to throw for the win. It was a chance he duly took.
Live Darts detailed how efficiency on the doubles helped Chisnall through:
Afterwards, the player sounded wary about a return to the final four:
Chisnall may be right to sound wary after seeing Van Barneveld show a timely reminder of his class in beating Lewis.
Jackpot wasted four chances at doubles in the opening leg and soon found himself two down. But he soon recovered to take the next three legs, including hitting double-nine and double-20 as he found his range.
Later, a bullseye from Van Barneveld sent him on his way to a 121 checkout and a 5-4 lead. Lewis responded by breaking throw to level an increasingly unpredictable match.
Van Barneveld eventually took it but only after some nervous moments late on. The mercurial Dutchman had found his prolific scoring form when it mattered most:
Chisnall and Van Barneveld may have booked their semi-final berths with the minimum amount of swagger, but Wright was certainly in confident mood after smashing past Cadby by eight legs.
Snakebite even sent out a warning to MVG ahead of their semi-final:
Van Gerwen had already made it through after outlasting the resourceful Peter Wade. The former's average was just under 100, and he had to survive some tense moments.
Some of the more notable scares occurred when Wade won four in a row after MVG had taken the first two legs. Later, Wade hit a double-two to tie the match at six apiece.
Yet Wade couldn't find bull when trailing 9-8. His miss let Van Gerwen off the hook, and a double-four guaranteed progress.
MVG wasn't too happy with his performance, despite the win:
His irritability is understandable, but it's not often Van Gerwen produces two sloppy matches in a row. Wright is in buoyant mood, but he should beware of a wounded MVG.
Meanwhile, Chisnall has every reason to take heart from his superb form. However, Van Barneveld can still beat anybody on his day.
