Giancarlo Stanton Exits Game vs. Pirates with Hand Injury, X-Rays Negative
Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton continued his struggle with physical issues after leaving Saturday's game with a hand injury.
According to Joe Frisaro of MLB.com, Stanton was hit by a pitch from Trevor Williams measured at 95.3 miles per hour. Ichiro Suzuki replaced him on the bases and in right field after the first-inning injury.
The Marlins later confirmed Stanton has a right wrist contusion and that X-rays were negative. He is day-to-day.

Stanton is one of the top power hitters in baseball when healthy. The three-time All-Star entered the day with 16 home runs and 42 RBI to go with his .288 batting average.
The biggest issue, however, is his inability to stay on the field. The 27-year-old missed a good portion of the 2016 season with a groin injury and has topped 125 games only once in the last five years.
He averaged just 115.4 contests per season during that stretch.
If Stanton were to miss time, it'd be a big setback for the Marlins. Even with hitters such as Marcell Ozuna and Christian Yelich, the lineup is much more terrifying with Stanton.
Considering Miami is on the hook for a 13-year, $325 million contract that runs through 2028, ensuring Stanton's long-term health remains a priority.
