Olympic 2016 Results: Tracker for Each Country's Medal Count on Final Day
Brazil's soccer team may have put the emotional cap on the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night.
With the match tied at the end of stoppage time, the men's soccer final between Brazil and Germany went to penalty kicks. In front of his home crowd, Brazilian superstar Neymar drilled the game-winning penalty, as shown by NBC Olympics:
More medals will be handed out on Sunday, the final day of these games. To stay up to speed on the medal count, see the live-updating tracker below.
Olympic Basketball Comes to a Close
In the gold-medal game of the basketball tournament, Serbia will get a second shot at Team USA after losing in group play by three.
NBC Sports provided highlights of that first matchup:
In group play, the Americans had absolutely no answer for the Denver Nuggets' Nikola Jokic. The versatile Serbian big man scored 25 points, grabbed six boards, dished out three assists and drilled two threes.
A better defensive effort from DeMarcus Cousins, DeAndre Jordan or maybe even Carmelo Anthony will be key in slowing down Jokic.
"Well, we’ve got one game," Anthony told reporters after Team USA's semifinal win over Spain, per USA Basketball. "That’s what we came here for, and we don’t want to leave with anything less than the gold medal. It would be a great game for us."
Combat Sports Galore

Several other tournaments will wrap up Sunday as well. Finals in four different weight classes (three men's and one women's) for boxing and six different weight classes in wrestling will be decided.
In the women's middle 75-kilogram class, American Claressa Shields will fight for gold against the Netherlands' Nouchka Fontijn.
"I have full confidence in myself," Shields said of her gold-medal match, per John Niyo of the Detroit News. And her coach, Ireland's Billy Walsh, seems pretty confident too, per Niyo:
"Her hand speed is phenomenal, her head movement is phenomenal. And her power, for a woman, she hurts every time she hits you...
... There’s an old saying, ‘If you don’t believe it, you’re probably right. She believes that she’s the best in the world. Sometimes I’m watching her in training and she’s not doing what she’s supposed to be doing, and I’m saying, ‘How does she have this belief all the time?’ But she believes she’s the best in the world. She believes she’s the best of all time. Muhammad Ali was telling people [that] all his life, and who was he telling, first and foremost? Himself.
"
If that belief in herself leads to gold, it will be Shields' fifth in international competition, including a gold at the 2012 Olympics in London.
The Last Run of the Games
In the men's marathon, American Galen Rupp secured the bronze. It was the first Olympic medal for an American in the marathon since 2004 and the third in the last 40 years.
Rio 2016's Twitter account shared the rest of the top three:
In pulling off the marathon, Rupp completed a rare feat. Just over a week earlier, he competed in the 10K, something ESPN's Mike Wise commented few have done:
Final Medal Count

Team USA has a commanding lead in the medal count and is guaranteed the win there. In 17 of the 27 Summer Olympics that have taken place since 1896, Team USA has walked away with the most golds. It's done so in five of the last six Games, with China being the lone exception in 2008.
In Rio, the Americans medaled in 25 different disciplines, doing most of their damage in the pool, on the track and on the mat. They secured 33 swimming medals, 31 track-and-field medals and 12 gymnastics medals.
