Olympic 2016 Results: Saturday Tracker for Each Country's Medal Count
The greatest show on Earth is now nearing a close, as the generation-inspiring Rio 2016 Olympic Games enters its penultimate day.
But there’s still plenty of scores to settle before the curtain comes down on what’s been a remarkable festival of sport, with countries looking to finish as high up the medal table as possible.
Saturday sees more gold medals go up for grabs, and you can track the competing nations’ progress below:
On Friday, Usain Bolt once again stole the headlines, as he recorded an emphatic "triple-triple" of gold medals on the track.
Alongside Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake and Nickel Ashmeade, Bolt added the 4x100-meter relay gold to his 100-meter and 200-meter titles—matching his astonishing feats of the past two Olympic Games.
Bolt was the last man to run for Jamaica, and although he was level with Canada, the United States and Japan when taking the baton, he surged clear to win in style. After the race, Bolt dedicated his ninth gold medal to his fans:
Medal chart toppers USA were set to boost their massive medal haul with a bronze in the 4x100m relay, but they were disqualified after Mike Rodgers was judged to have passed the baton to Justin Gatlin outside the exchange zone.
The leading nation did have success in the women’s 4x100m relay, though, as Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix, English Gardner and Torie Bowie chalked up their nation’s 38th gold medal of 2016.
Victory for Felix made her the first woman in history to win five medals on the track, and Golden State Warriors star Andre Iguodala was one of many singing her praises:
USA’s closest competitors in the medal table are Great Britain and China, and Friday once again proved a fruitful day for both nations.
Great Britain won gold in the women’s hockey, the equestrian jumping individual and jump-off, plus they narrowly missed out on taekwondo gold.
China, meanwhile, won the badminton men’s doubles and the women’s 20-kilometer walk race to close the gap on the top two.

They have a chance to draw level with Great Britain on Saturday, with gold medal opportunities in the men’s badminton singles and women’s volleyball. Nicola Adams helped Team GB in its effort to put China out of reach with a gold in the women’s flyweight boxing, though.
Shakur Stevenson of the USA took silver in boxing on Saturday, while the women’s basketball team go for gold against Spain.
The Rio 2016 Olympics has more than lived up to its billing so far, with outstanding performances and closely fought battles galore.
And although there are only two days to go before the closing ceremony takes centre stage, the gold medal battles will continue to capture to imagination of the world.
