Jimmy Feigen Avoids Prosecution for Fake Robbery Story at 2016 Rio Olympics
Olympic swimmer Jimmy Feigen is set to return to the United States after making a donation to a Brazilian institution in exchange for his passport.
According to ESPN.com, the two-time Olympic medalist's lawyer said he agreed to pay $10,800 and will be permitted to leave Brazil.
Along with Ryan Lochte, Feigen was one of four Olympic swimmers who were involved in a disagreement at a Brazilian gas station after a night of partying.
Lochte claimed that the swimmers were robbed at gunpoint, but authorities later determined that the swimmers were confronted by armed security guards after damaging property at the gas station.
Per ESPN.com, Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger left Brazil on Thursday night after undergoing further questioning.
Lochte left earlier in the week and wasn't asked to return despite the fact that Bentz and Conger were pulled off a flight back to the United States.
While Lochte has yet to say that his account of a robbery was fabricated, security footage from the gas station appeared to reveal inconsistencies in his explanation.
The next step for the 12-time Olympic medalist isn't yet clear, but Lochte could potentially face charges. According to Danny Cevallos of CNN, while it's possible he could be extradited to Brazil, it's unlikely to happen.
