There was a gold medal for Team GB's Giles Scott in the finn men's sailing class, as 16-year-old gymnast Amy Tinkler took bronze in the women's floor behind Biles. Team USA's Alexandra Raisman won silver ahead of Tinkler with 15.500, as the teenager scored 14.933 to become only the second British female to win an individual gymnastics medal.

Team GB had further track cycling success as Laura Trott won the top prize in women's omnium to claim her fourth Olympic gold medal.

Trott now becomes her country's most successful female Olympian after her combined success in London and Rio.

Here's the latest medal count during Tuesday's events:

Tuesday Recap

Sailing took centre stage on Tuesday as a host of medals were decided across multiple classes and categories.

Scott's success was one of the stories of the day as he succeeded London 2012 champion, four-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Ben Ainslie.

Scott obliterated his opposition as he raced to a 30-point lead over the field, guaranteeing the win before the final race. Slovenian Vasilij Zbogar took silver, as American Caleb Paine won the bronze.

Marit Bouwmeester of the Netherlands obtained gold in the laser radial women's class as Ireland athlete Annalise Murphy claimed the silver medal, with Denmark's Anne-Marie Rindom winning the bronze.

Tom Burton of Australia earned the gold medal in the laser men medal race, as Santiago Lange and Cecilia Saroli of Argentina won gold in the Nacra 17 mixed medal race.

There was a huge shock in the women's football as hosts Brazil crashed out in the semi-finals to Sweden.

Sweden had eliminated world champions the United States to claim a last-four berth and repeated their penalty shootout success with a 4-3 win after extra-time following a goalless draw.

Superstar Marta was distraught after the penalties failure as the partisan crowd wept with sadness.

It will be an all-European final in the women's football as Germany beat Canada, 2-0, in the second semi-final.
