Olympic Women's Gymnastics 2016: Floor Medal Winners, Scores and Results

Mike ChiariAug 16, 2016

Team USA's "Final Five" women's gymnastics team closed out its 2016 Rio Olympics in dominant fashion Tuesday, as Simone Biles and Aly Raisman took gold and silver, respectively, in the floor exercise.

For Biles, it was her fourth gold and fifth medal overall of the 2016 Games, while Raisman won her sixth career Olympic medal by securing the silver.

Here is a full rundown of the results:

While Biles' pursuit of five gold medals in Brazil hit a snag with a slip-up on the balance beam that resulted in a bronze, ESPN Stats & Info put her overall Rio performance into perspective:

Biles arguably established herself as the greatest gymnast of all time by winning her fifth medal, and according to USA Gymnastics, she matched some of the United States' best performers ever:

The reigning Olympic all-around champion's winning margin of nearly a half-point over Raisman was huge, especially considering the fact that Raisman won floor exercise gold in London four years ago.

Four-time Olympic medal-winning gymnast Shawn Johnson applauded Biles for her history-making effort:

While much of the focus was on Biles' fourth gold, Raisman's silver helped clinch Team USA's best-ever showing at a single Olympics in women's gymnastics:

Per Nancy Armour of USA Today, it also made Raisman the second-most decorated women's gymnast to ever represent the United States at the Summer Games:

Shannon Miller, with seven Olympic medals, is still tops in that regard, and she had nothing but praise for the two leaders of perhaps the most talented women's gymnastics team of all time:

Lost in Team USA's dominance was the fact that Amy Tinkler made some history of her own by becoming the first British women's gymnast to ever medal in the floor exercise at the Olympics.

For the U.S., the Final Five of Laurie Hernandez (16 years old), Madison Kocian (19), Biles (19), Gabby Douglas (20) and Raisman (22) likely won't be the same team we see in Tokyo in 2020.

We already know Martha Karolyi, the national team coordinator since 2001, will be stepping down. However, Biles, Raisman and Co. made sure she went out on a high note.
