Olympic Weightlifting 2016: Monday's Medal Winners, Scores and Results
Uzbekistan's Ruslan Nurudinov won the gold medal in the men's 105-kilogram weightlifting competition in Rio de Janeiro on Monday, setting an Olympic record with a 237-kilogram clean and jerk on his third attempt, per Danny Quin of NBC Olympics.
He clearly enjoyed the moment. As the Associated Press reported (via Yahoo Sports), "Nurudinov stuck his tongue out and shouted with joy after his final lift, before bowing to the crowd in triumph, tears in his eyes."
It was the first medal Uzbekistan has ever claimed in weightlifting.
Simon Martirosyan of Armenia took home the silver, while Kazakhstan's Alexandr Zaichikov won the bronze.

For Nurudinov, the victory was sweet after he failed to reach the medal stand at the 2012 London Games. And his combined total of 431 kilograms was no small feat. While the combined total wasn't an Olympic record, it does work out to just over 950 pounds.
His clean and jerk did break the Olympic record by a single kilogram, however, besting the mark Belarus' Andrei Aramnau set in Beijing eight years ago, per Raphielle Johnson of NBC Sports' Olympic Talk.
While Nurudinov won gold by a wide margin, Zaichikov came up just short of Martirosyan for the silver, as he couldn't complete his final two clean-and-jerk attempts at 227 kilograms.
