Little League World Series Regionals 2016: Scores, Bracket Results for Final Day
It may have taken an extra day and a trip to Williamsport, but Kentucky finally clinched its spot in the 2016 Little League World Series with a 7-2 win over Michigan in the Great Lakes championship.
Isaiah Head pitched 5.2 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out 10. He carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before ceding to Devin Obee, who closed the game out after Head went over the 100-pitch mark.

The two teams entered Monday midway through the second inning with Kentucky leading 1-0. Because of pre-tournament responsibilities leading up to the Little League World Series, both traveled to Williamsport to finish the game out at Howard J. Lamade Stadium.
Kentucky responded by scoring three runs in the top of the third. An error and a costly wild pitch cost Michigan two of those runs, and Turner Nottmeier drove in the third with an RBI single. While that would have been enough to win the game, Kentucky added two more in the top of the fourth and another in the top of the sixth to stretch the margin out.
Carson Myers hit a solo home run before the game moved to Williamsport, and John Guthrie went 2-for-3 with a pair of triples. Each of the top five hitters in the Kentucky lineup wound up with a base hit, and four of its five RBI came from those spots.
The Kentucky bunch made Michigan starter Alex Czyzewski retire after 2.2 innings and didn't have a tougher time with his replacements, Blaise Millar and Jack Day.
This is the second straight year the Bowling Green Little League has gone on to take the Great Lakes region. It is the first repeat champion of the region since Owensboro, Kentucky, went back-to-back in 2004 and 2005. Last year's outfit went 2-2 and made it to the third round of competition before being eliminated. The Great Lakes Region has produced two U.S. champions, though Jackie Robinson West's 2014 run was subsequently vacated.
Kentucky will now move on to play Southwest representative Texas in its opening game Friday. Michigan will head home, having barely spent enough time in central Pennsylvania to take a nap before its departure.
