Summer Olympics 2016 Schedule: Rio TV, Live Stream Coverage for Monday Events
It’ll be the turn of the middle-distance runners to shine on Monday at the 2016 Rio Olympics, with the men’s 800-metre final and women’s 400-metre final the highlights of what’s set to be another exciting day.
In the former, Kenya’s David Rudisha will be seeking to prolong his longstanding dominance when it comes to two laps of the track. Meanwhile, in the women’s final, Allyson Felix continues to look serene over the 400-metre distance; the American has a credible rival in the Bahamas’ Shaunae Miller, though.
Away from the Olympic Stadium, there are plenty of gripping events to savour, including more individual finals in gymnastics, plus the conclusion of the men’s omnium in cycling.
Here are the details on where to catch the action and a closer look at what’s to come.

Felix Chasing 400-metre Glory
With just the 400-metre event to focus on at these Games in terms of individual races, Felix will be doubly determined to take gold for the United States.
The 2012 200-metre Olympic champion won’t defend her title over that distance, having failed to qualify for the event. But the one-lap race has suited the 30-year-old, who is the world champion over the longer distance.
Felix has breezed through to the final of this one, too. Mark Jones of ESPN paid tribute to her composure and focus at the Games:
Miller may not have looked quite as sharp as Felix so far, although she has a quick time in her. Indeed, she ran 49.55 seconds at the Diamond League in London earlier this year and will feel as though she has nothing to lose ahead of her first Olympic final. The 22-year-old, as such, is a dangerous rival for Felix.
In addition to what should be a fascinating 400-metre final, spectators will get to enjoy another master at work in the men’s 800-metre climax. That man, of course, is Rudisha.

His powerful running style lit up the London Games four years ago, smashing the world record to win this event. In defence of his title at these Games, Rudisha may not have the same speed, although he’s still going to be extremely difficult to get the better of.
Oliver Holt of the Mail on Sunday has enjoyed watching the 800-metre champion at the Games:
The men who were expected to potentially challenge Rudisha failed to reach the final. Poland’s Adam Kszczot and Djibouti’s Ayanleh Souleiman had both been in fine form ahead of the Olympics, although each faltered in their respective semi.
Another intriguing finale is in store in the men’s omnium, with France’s Thomas Boudat leading the way after two events. Great Britain’s Mark Cavendish is definitely one to watch for gold in this one, with some favourable sections to come in the six-race competition.
As noted by BBC 5 live Sport, he’ll be seeking to bounce back after disappointing in the elimination race, although he's well-placed in third after the first day:
There are three finals still to run in the gymnastics schedule, too. For the men, it’s the final of the rings and the vault. In the former, China’s world champion Liu Yang will be the favourite for gold, while the vault is set to be closely contested between North Korea’s Ri Se-gwang and Russia’s Denis Ablyazin.
Rounding off the evening at the Arena Olimpica do Rio will be the women’s beam event and another chance to see American superstar Simone Biles in action. Having won gold in the team all-around, the individual all-around and in the vault, she’s expected clinch her fourth win of these Games in style.
