Recap

United were far from perfect on Sunday, but Mourinho's men got off to a winning start in the Special One's first Premier League match at the helm of his new club, and that should be the main takeaway for fans.
Mata opened the score after 40 minutes with a bit of luck, as the ball took a fortuitous bounce to fall back into his possession, but the Red Devils deserved to enter half-time with the lead and were far more clinical after the break.
Rooney doubled their advantage, and apparently that was enough for Ibrahimovic to hand his captain the man-of-the-match award, via Sky Sports Football:
Summer signing Eric Bailly ended up with the trophy, however, and deservedly so. The former Villarreal man was remarkably composed on his Premier League debut, drawing praise from fans and pundits alike.
ESPN FC's Alex Shaw joined in on the fun:
Ibrahimovic added a third goal to secure the win with a low, long-range strike, before Adam Smith spoiled the party a bit by pulling one back for the Cherries.
All in all, it was a positive debut for United and Mourinho, who will host Southampton in Week 2. The Red Devils won't face a truly elite club until Sept. 10, when they take on rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford in the derby.

In Sunday's other match, Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool side delivered a huge statement at the Emirates Stadium, serving up a fantastic match with the Gunners.
The Reds dominated large stretches of the match but allowed Arsenal to come back into the game in the final 20 minutes, setting up a tense finale. Liverpool had taken the lead by exploiting Arsenal's defensive gaps, and journalist Miguel Delaney thought it was a bad look for Gunners manager Arsene Wenger:
Coutinho fired his way to the summit of the top scorer's standings with a brace, while Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane also opened their 2016-17 season accounts. For Arsenal, Theo Walcott missed a penalty but got on the board just a minute later, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made it 4-2 in the second half.
Calum Chambers brought his team to within a single goal after 75 minutes, but even the introduction of Granit Xhaka couldn't stem the tide, as Liverpool hung on for the win.
