Olympic Men's Tennis 2016: Andy Murray vs. Juan Martin del Potro Time, Schedule
Andy Murray of Great Britain has been here before. Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina has not.
However, just because Murray has played for and won the Olympic gold medal before does not mean he is going to have an easy time of it.
While Murray has played well in Rio de Janeiro and has reached the final after downing Japan's Kei Nishikori by a 6-1, 6-4 score on Saturday, Del Potro scored perhaps an even more impressive victory over Rafael Nadal, as he came back to beat the Spaniard 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in a thrilling match.
Del Potro has had an impressive tournament. He knocked out Novak Djokovic, the No. 1 player in the world, in the first round, and he has kept his level quite high. He has already recorded two major upsets, and if he can beat Murray in the gold-medal match at 2:30 p.m. ET, it would cap a spectacular and somewhat shocking tournament for the Argentinian.

The championship match will take place after Nadal and Nishikori square off for the bronze medal at a 12:30 p.m. ET.
While Del Potro ranks 141st in the world, he has had success in the past. He won the 2009 U.S. Open, and that is the greatest victory in his career to this point.
Del Potro has surprised himself with his performance at the Olympics, and he believes a victory could be the most significant of his career.
"It means something very, very big in my career. It would be the same as the U.S. Open. Maybe even better," Del Potro said after the match, per the Associated Press (h/t Tennis.com). "I didn't expect to reach the final, beating Djokovic and Rafa, but I did, and I get a medal, and it's amazing for me."
Murray is attempting to win his second Olympic tennis title after coming away with the gold medal in London four years ago after beating Roger Federer in straight sets.
"It would mean a lot, obviously," Murray said. "It's obviously not an easy thing to do. That's why it's not been done before."
Del Potro had shown signs at Wimbledon that he was starting to regain his form, as he played well during the fortnight and even recorded an impressive victory over Stan Wawrinka. Still, few thought he had a legitimate chance in the Olympics until he got the best of Djokovic.
Murray's ability to serve and play with power gives him a great chance to repeat his gold-medal victory. Even though he beat Nishikori handily, the two engaged in some significant and long rallies, and Murray demonstrated his concentration by outlasting his opponent.
That's an example of his versatility and will make him very difficult to beat.
