In her first and last Olympic Games, Maya DiRado made her mark in the 200-meter breaststroke in an upset victory over Katinka "The Iron Lady" Hosszu.

DiRado trailed Hosszu up until the final moments of the race where she was able to touch the wall just 0.06 seconds before the Hungarian.

DiRado's emotional moment on the podium was one of the more memorable moments of the day, along with Singapore's Joseph Schooling defeating America's Michael Phelps in the 100-meter breaststroke.

It marked Schooling's first gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and also his country's first-ever Olympic gold medal.

In total, 23 events handed out medals on Day 7. Here's an updated medal count for each country heading into Day 8:

Katie Ledecky dominated in the women's 800-meter freestyle, smashing the world record that she set earlier this year in January, en route to her third individual gold medal of the Rio Games.

With Ledecky's gold medal, the United States leads all countries with 50 medals, including 20 gold medals. The second closest country is China, with a total of 37 medals.
