Olympic Judo 2016: Medal Winners and Scores After Wednesday's Results
Japan's Mashu Baker and Haruka Tachimoto took home the gold medal for the men's 90-kilogram weight class and women's 70-kilogram weight class, respectively, on Wednesday evening.
Here are the medal winners from Wednesday's action:
| Gold | Mashu Baker | Japan |
| Silver | Varlam Liparteliani | Georgia |
| Bronze (A) | Gwak Donghan | South Korea |
| Bronze (B) | Cheng Xunzhao | China |
| Gold | Haruka Tachimoto | Japan |
| Silver | Yuri Alvear | Colombia |
| Bronze (A) | Sally Conway | Great Britain |
| Bronze (B) | Laura Vargas Koch | Germany |
Baker defeated Georgia's Varlam Liparteliani, 1s2-0, notching a solitary yuko to earn the win and the gold medal.
Gwak Donghan of South Korea defeated Sweden's Marcus Nyman to win the bronze (A), meanwhile, ending the match by ippon. In the bronze (B) bout, Cheng Xunzhao of China defeated Mongolia's Otgonbaatar Lkhagvasuren, 1s2-0s1.
It was all about the Japanese on Wednesday, however, as Tachimoto defeated Colombia's Yuri Alvear by ippon to earn the gold medal in the women's competition.
The International Judo Federation showed Tachimoto enjoying the moment with her sister:
Great Britain's Sally Conway took the bronze (A) over Austria's Bernadette Graf, 1s2-0, while Laura Vargas Koch of Germany defeated Spain's Maria Bernabeu, 10-0, to win bronze (B).
The Japanese will surely be pleased with how dominant they've been in judo to this point, as Shawn Smith of NBC Sports noted:
Suffice to say, 2016 has been a much more dominant year for the Japanese.
The judo tournament will continue on Thursday, with the men's 100-kilogram competition and the women's 78-kilogram weight class in action.
