Medal Tally Olympics 2016: Updated Standings, Results After Each Tuesday Event

More medals made their way to Olympians on Tuesday, as the United States and China separated themselves from the rest of the pack in the medal count.

The highlight of the day was the Americans winning the Women's Team Competition final. The team of Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian and Aly Raisman took first in the vault, uneven bars, beam and floor routine and ran away with the event.

Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky also medaled for the United States in the pool. And medals were handed out in diving, weightlifting and more. A live-updating medal count can be found below.

Team USA Dominates the Women's Team Competition Final in Gymnastics

Russian gymnast Aliya Mustafina called Team USA "unbeatable" on Sunday, per Will Graves of the Associated Press. That statement proved to be prophetic.

Team USA didn't just win gold, it obliterated the competition in the process. Seven of the eight teams in competition tallied between 172 and 177 total points. The United States racked up 184.897.

It was never in doubt.

There was plenty of highlights from the electrifying women, but Kocian's routine on the uneven bars was among the best.

Biles summed up her feelings after the event, per the U.S. Olympic Team:

Team USA may now have the seeds of an Olympic dynasty on its hands, as the women have won this competition in back-to-back games.

Katie Ledecky is "Wonder Woman"

Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom gave Ledecky a bit of a scare, but the 19-year-old American pulled out the victory and received high praise from commentator Rowdy Gaines in the process:

Including World Championships, Ledecky is now 14-of-14 in swimming finals since the 2012 games in London. And now she has history in her sights, per USA Today's Nicole Auerbach:

If she pulls off that feat, she'll secure her place among America's biggest stars at the 2016 games (if she hasn't already.

Michael Phelps Wins His 20th Olympic Gold Medal

After taking first place in the men's 200-meter butterfly final, Michael Phelps now owns an unfathomable 20 Olympic golds.

After the event, the U.S. Olympic team took us down memory lane for a look at his 24 total medals:

Phelps now ranks 33rd all time for gold medals won...if he was his own country. BBC Sports put that staggering stat into a visual:

And his 2016 run isn't even over. In the next two days, Phelps will compete in heats for the 200-meter individual medley and the 100-meter butterfly.
