WWE SmackDown Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from August 9
Perhaps it is a testament to the consistency of Tuesday's WWE SmackDown Live that no one Superstar stood head and shoulders above everyone as the night's biggest winner.
Dolph Ziggler continued his march to SummerSlam with a pinfall victory over Erick Rowan in the night's tag team main event, utilizing the superkick to put The White Sheep of the Wyatt Family away. His opponent at the summertime spectacular, WWE champion Dean Ambrose, had the last laugh when he delivered Dirty Deeds to an unsuspecting Showoff.
Randy Orton rolled over Alberto Del Rio, surviving a targeted attack on his arm to deliver the RKO and send a message to Brock Lesnar in the process.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Eva Marie suffered a wardrobe malfunction, opening the door for Alexa Bliss to make her in-ring debut and score a tainted birthday victory over Becky Lynch.
Carmella scored her first televised win under the WWE banner, American Alpha established dominance and Baron Corbin continued his path of destruction following a backstage beatdown of Kalisto.
Which of those aforementioned stars had the most memorable night, and who was unfortunate enough to wind up as the biggest loser of the August 9 show?
Winner: Randy Orton
One thing WWE Creative had to portray Tuesday night was Orton's ability to absorb punishment and still strike from nowhere with the RKO. It will be the central story of his SummerSlam battle with The Beast Incarnate and thus should already be established by the time the pay-per-view extravaganza hits the WWE Network airwaves on August 21.
That element was present Tuesday as Orton withstood opponent Del Rio's concentrated effort to pick apart his left arm in anticipation of his cross armbreaker. Despite having the limb smashed into the ring post, Orton was able to shake it off and deliver his signature maneuver to a thunderous ovation.
Orton looked every bit the star he is, a central figure of Tuesday's show and one of the building blocks of the upcoming SummerSlam spectacular. For the first time in years, it feels as though WWE Creative has rediscovered how to properly present The Viper as one of its marquee attractions.
Whether it can continue to do so after what should be an incredibly physical war with Lesnar at SummerSlam is the real question.
Loser: Carmella
Carmella won her first SmackDown match Tuesday night, defeating Natalya in what can best be described as an upset, but the crowd's apathy toward her is indicative of an unwise booking decision on the part of WWE Creative.
The Princess of Staten Island needs the association with Enzo Amore and Big Cass to help ingratiate herself to the WWE Universe. Her entire act in NXT was predicated on the idea that she was associated with The Certified G and his 7-foot buddy. She was their female sidekick and friend.
Unfortunately, the draft split her from them, and without any sort of explanation as to why she looks like a model from an Urban Outfitters catalog, fans have no reason to invest in her.
The fact of the matter is that not everyone is familiar with NXT. The brand has a strong fan following, but it's a niche one, and for characters like Carmella to succeed, they must be put in the right position. The split from Enzo and Cass did her a great disservice, as witnessed by the lack of reception for her on-screen persona to date.
Winner: Erick Rowan
On first look, the SmackDown main event was but a showcase for Ziggler, Wyatt and Ambrose as the brand searches for its foundation. Upon closer inspection, though, it was Rowan who stood out as the unlikely star of the bout.
It was not all that long ago that Rowan looked woefully out of place in a WWE ring. He was easily the worst worker of the three Wyatt Family members, a lumbering big man who had little to offer besides generic punches and kicks.
But on Tuesday night, fans got a look at a more mature Rowan. The so-called White Sheep of The Wyatt Family shined as he wore down Ambrose and flattened Ziggler with a sick spinning heel kick. He not only worked with Wyatt to control the pace of the match throughout but also kept up with the frenetic Ziggler and chaotic Ambrose when the action broke down late.
With a limited pool of talent from which to build stars, SmackDown officials would be wise to give Rowan a look, especially if he can continue to impress against some of the best wrestlers in the industry.
