Olympic Swimming 2016: Results and Highlights from Wednesday's Day 5
Day 5 of swimming at the Rio Olympics is in the books, with four different countries winning gold medals on Wednesday. But four of them went to the United States, as the women's 4x200-meter freestyle relay blew away the competition in the final race of the night.
Anchor Katie Ledecky got into the pool with Team USA trailing by 0.69 seconds but she quickly took the lead, eventually winning going away.
All told, the U.S. medaled in three races, with Josh Prenot earning silver in the men's 200-meter breaststroke and Nathan Adrian claiming a bronze in the men's 100-meter free.
Kazakhstan's Dmitriy Balandin won the 200 breast, earning his country's first-ever Olympic swimming medal, while Spain's Spain's Mireia Belmonte Garcia won the women's 200 butterfly and the men's 100 free gold went to Australia's Kyle Chalmers.
