Predictions
Men's Soccer: Brazil vs. Iraq
Other than the United States men's basketball team playing a country not known for the sport, this might become one of the biggest blowouts of the tournament.
Of Iraq's 18-man roster, 10 of them play domestically in Iraq. They did post a scoreless draw against Denmark on Thursday in the opening match of the men's tournament.
They are going to be playing a loaded Brazilian side that features professional stars like Paris Saint-Germain's Marquinhos and Barcelona's Rafinha.
But all eyes are going to be on the Barcelona striker Neymar, who will be playing on a major international stage for the first time since injuries cut his 2014 World Cup campaign short.
For Barcelona and Brazil, Neymar scored over 30 goals last season, and he's developed into the country's next big superstar behind the likes of Pele and Ronaldo.
He's not taking his responsibility of headlining Brazil lightly, either:
For such a dominant world soccer force, though, Brazil has never won Olympic gold in 12 appearances, falling just short in 2012 to Mexico.
Against Iraq, expect Brazil to win big as a quest for an elusive gold medal begins.
Prediction: Brazil 7, Iraq 0
Women's Basketball: USA vs. Senegal
This is just the second time the Senegal women's basketball team has ever qualified for the Olympics—it finished 12th in the 2000 Sydney Games.
The 11 players on Senegal's roster play their league basketball in either Spain, France or Angola and are in for the biggest challenge of their careers. Senegal is going to play a stacked United States team of WNBA All-Stars who have won a total of 17 gold medals at the Olympics.
Heading into the 2016 Summer Games, the United States is riding a 41-game winning streak, according to Motez Bishara of CNN.com, where it hasn't lost a game since the 1992 Barcelona Games.
America will be led by forward Elena Delle Donne, who won the 2015 WNBA MVP award.
During her run of supremacy, she's averaged 22.3 points and 7.8 rebounds in her last 54 WNBA games. The 6'5" star can play any position on the floor and excel.
If she can't be guarded in the WNBA, it's unlikely Senegal will have much of a chance. Expect Delle Donne to have a huge game.
Prediction: Delle Donne scores 29; USA 85, Senegal 40
