Sky Sports and Twitter Sign Deal to Show 2016-17 Premier League Highlights
Sky Sports will show clips of key moments from Premier League matches on Twitter during the 2016-17 season, after it was confirmed a deal has been agreed between the two brands.
As reported by the Press Association (h/t the Guardian), users of the social media website in the United Kingdom and Ireland will be able to access footage of vital incidents from matches that are broadcast by Sky, as well as some content from matches that kick off at the traditional 3 p.m. time on a Saturday.
The SkyFootball Twitter account is where the videos will be posted, while a Sky Sports Football Centre application will allow Sky customers access to highlights from all football league games.

โWith more than 30 million users across a variety of platforms, Sky Sports is already the number one digital destination for sports in the UK,โ said David Gibbs, digital director for Sky Sports and Sky News. โBy expanding our partnership with Twitter, we can bring even more great action to an even bigger audience.โ
As noted by Jake Gallagher of Squawka Football, itโs a move that will enhance the experience of many on social media:
"Twitter to broadcast Sky Sports' live Premier League highlights. Shame, I used to enjoy watching someone's Vine of a firstrowsports stream.

Itโs suggested by the initial source that the success of similar packages involving the UEFA European Championship and Wimbledon this summer have encouraged the deal.
Twitterโs Theo Luke also expressed his delight at the new agreement. โWe canโt think of a better way to continue the momentous summer of sport on Twitter than live Premier League video clips,โ he said. โSky Sports are incredibly innovative on Twitter so it seemed like a natural fit to work with them to bring fans the most sought after action in sport, in an instant.โ ย
