The final roster for the Olympics was announced after the competition ended, and the U.S. will send a similar team back to the Games.
Jake Dalton, Mikulak and John Orozco will return from the 2012 squad, with Chris Brooks and Alex Naddour making the jump to the active roster after serving as alternates in London.
Naddour and Orozco did not post top-eight all-around scores, as each is more specialized in a single event. Naddour finished first on the pommel horse, while Orozco was second on the horizontal bar.
NBC Olympics posted the grand reveal on Twitter:
Danell Leyva was cut after performing with the U.S. four years ago. His pommel-horse results could have made the difference, according to Nancy Armour of USA Today:
Mikulak, meanwhile, was strong on the pommel horse, courtesy of NBC Olympics:
There was not much debate among the selection committee, per the Associated Press' Will Graves:
The team will have redemption on its mind. The Americans finished fifth overall in 2012 despite entering the field as one of the favorites to win the gold medal.
The U.S. will have experience on its side, and it should be looking to restore glory to American men's gymnastics with a strong showing in Rio de Janeiro.
