The Sharks are 8-3 at home during these playoffs, but the Penguins have been better the team in this series.
Pittsburgh have outshot San Jose in all but one meeting, Game 4. Overall, the Penguins have a staggering 179-120 shot advantage in the series.
The Penguins have also already won a game in San Jose, taking down the Sharks 3-1 in Game 4. Pittsburgh is 6-4 on the road in the postseason.
If San Jose is going to force a in Game 6, it will be because of Jones. The 26-year-old is 14-9 this postseason with a 2.16 GAA and .922 save percentage. He has been particularly great in the Stanley Cup Final, as demonstrated by NHL Public Relations:
His teammates are also aware of the goaltender's stellar play.
“He doesn’t flinch,” defenseman Justin Braun said, per Sports Illustrated's Alex Prewitt. “He doesn’t go after guys, he doesn’t lose his cool. He’s always tapping us on the pads, saying we did a good job, and usually he’s bailing us out.”
Without Jones, this series would likely already be over, but he can only keep his team alive for so long against a relentless Pittsburgh forecheck.
Pittsburgh has peppered Jones the entire series while winning races to loose pucks and frustrating San Jose with its speed and depth. To expect Jones to carry his team much longer is a tough bet.
Per ESPN.com, the Penguins won their three previous Stanley Cups on the road. Expect them to seize No. 4 Sunday.
