Blanc took control after Carlo Ancelotti departed the French capital giants to manage Real Madrid in 2013.
European football expert Andy Brassell also pointed out the size of Blanc's substantial payoff, previously reported to be valued at £15.5 million by the Sun's James Orr:
Loic Tanzi of Goal reported PSG are set to appoint Unai Emery, who recently won his third UEFA Europa League in a row with Sevilla, as Blanc's successor. The Spaniard has managed abroad before, coaching Spartak Moscow in 2012 after departing Valencia.
Tanzi wrote:
"While the French champions had Diego Simeone in mind as their first-choice candidate to succeed Blanc, they realise they are unlikely to be successful in prising the Argentine from Atletico Madrid.
"
Instead they will turn to Emery, who has finished the season at Sevilla with a victory in the Europa League for the third campaign in a row, while he guided the club to a seventh-placed finish in La Liga.
PSG stormed to the Ligue 1 title last season, obliterating their primary competition in France, but it was Blanc's failure in Europe's biggest club tournament that caused him to come under fire.
With the Ligue 1 race widely viewed as a competition PSG should win, it was the club's European efforts by which Blanc was judged, but BT Sport's Adam Summerton has said the coach deserves more credit:
In the wake of Monday's announcement, reporter Jonathan Tannenwald questioned who the conceding party was given the size of Blanc's compensation fee:
Despite winning the French league by 31 points, PSG were not able to transfer their domestic form to the continent, even with the purchase of Angel Di Maria from Manchester United in August 2015.
The team's lack of success in Europe following the huge amount of money invested into the Paris side dictated Blanc's fate. PSG were eliminated 3-2 on aggregate by Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, likely leading to the manager's exit.
Blanc is one of a few big casualties of the summer, as Europe's top sides look to reposition themselves during the transfer window and Euro 2016.
