NBA Finals 2016: Cavs vs. Warriors Game 2 Vegas Odds, Prop Bets and Predictions

Justin NeumanJun 4, 2016

Stop us if you've heard this one before: The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors are facing off in the NBA Finals.

In a rematch from last season's championship series, the Warriors and Cavaliers are at it again, and this year, the Cavs have their full complement of players. The Warriors took Game 1 at home in convincing fashion, winning 104-89 on Thursday night.

According to Ben Cafardo of ESPN, Game 1 of the Finals set a record for viewership on ABC; Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated then provided some context for that rating:

The sharpshooting Warriors backcourt of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson came back to earth Thursday, scoring only 20 total points while shooting a combined 8-of-27 from the field. However, the Dubs reserves swung the game for the defending champs. Shaun Livingston led the way with 20 points, and the bench as a whole outscored the Cavs backups 45-10.

LeBron James did what he could for Cleveland, just missing out on a triple-double with 23 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving also did their part, chipping in with 17 and 26 points, respectively, but the rest of the Cavs lineup was absent.

Now the Cavs will have to get back on track and deal with (one would assume) better shooting from both Curry and Thompson. They have a few days to work out the kinks, as Game 2 isn't until Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.

As you can probably imagine, the Warriors are favored for Game 2. The Dubs are giving the Cavs 6.5 points, and 61 percent of the bets were on the Warriors as of Friday night, according to Odds Shark.

Because there's such a bright spotlight on the NBA Finals, Odds Shark has plenty of prop bets listed as well. Here's an overview of a couple of interesting ones, along with some predictions and a pick for Game 2.

Number of Games in Series

If you think you can predict how many games the series is going to last, this is the bet for you. The longest possible odds now are for the Cavaliers in five games, which pays off at 12-1. If you expect the Cavs to win a longer series, you can get 15-2 odds on a seven-game triumph.

However, based on Game 1, the Warriors look to be too much for the Cavaliers. If the Warriors supporting cast continues to outplay the Cavs role players, this one could be over in a hurry. The 3-1 odds for a five-game Warriors victory may be the way to go.

Finals MVP

Another popular bet is on the MVP for the Finals. Last year's winner was a bit of a surprise, as Andre Iguodala was recognized for his two-way performance both on the offensive end and while shouldering the burden of guarding James.

This year, the overwhelming favorite is, of course, Curry, who has 4-5 odds to nab his first Finals MVP award. James is coming in at 2-1, which is the one to take if you think the Cavs will win the series.

The best bet, however, could be Curry's backcourt partner. You can get 5-1 odds on Thompson, and if he explodes like he did in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals, he could easily take home the award.

Top Scorer in Series

This could go hand-in-hand with the MVP award, unless someone puts in another superhuman defensive performance like Iguodala did last year. Curry again leads the way at 4-5, with James behind him at 5-2.

But the name that jumps off the page is Irving at 8-1. He was the top scorer in Game 1, and he can fill it up on any given night. He's not the best defensive guard, so he's going to continue to look to score. Those odds could end up paying off in a big way, especially if the Cavs continue to find themselves playing catch-up.

Game 2

It's hard to see the Cavaliers coming in and snagging home-court advantage in Game 2 after their performance in Game 1. Assuming Curry and Thompson get back to scoring from all over the floor, this one could be another easy victory for the Warriors.

Prediction: Warriors win, 110-95.
