Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Rumours on N'Golo Kante and Marco van Ginkel

Tom SunderlandMay 30, 2016

Chelsea target N'Golo Kante has distanced himself from an imminent exit at Leicester City but has left his future open after claiming he's happy with the Premier League champions "for now." Plus, Marco van Ginkel's summer move to PSV Eindhoven has been held up.

Kante was one of the Foxes' star men as they stunned the English elite to win the Premier League title last season, but he suggested to French newspaper L'Equipe that he could move one day (h/t Press Association's Nick Mashiter, via the Daily Mail):

"

For now, I am happy at Leicester. I do not pay too much attention to everything that is said. For now, I am in Leicester and I focus on the Euros.

I think that my season at Leicester surprised everybody. People liked to see a new Premier League champion. We had a magnificent season.

And then, my debut with France went well. Maybe my journey also helps compared to other people who come from amateur football. I try to stay the same. I am not aware that my personality is different.

Kante was a bargain £5.6 million signing from Ligue 1 outfit Caen last summer, and his swift progress in the Premier League has alerted some of Europe's top clubs in recent months.

Earlier this month, Joe Short of the Daily Express identified Chelsea as one of the clubs looking to prise him from the King Power Stadium, while the Daily Mail mentioned Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested.

The Blues are hoping to bounce back from a disastrous campaign in which they finished 10th in the league, where the form of central players like Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic was far from its previous best.

Squawka recently compared the involvement of Kante alongside some of the Premier League's other top holding midfielders—including new Arsenal signing Granit Xhaka—and showed he was an ever-present force:

While Fabregas and Matic failed to perform as they did during the Premier League-winning season of 2014-15, anchor John Obi Mikel enjoyed something of a resurgence under now-departed interim boss Guus Hiddink.

Kante's admission hinted he may not remain content in Leicester should Europe's major parties continue their interest, and Coral provided a glimpse at the tools that allowed him to thrive as the Foxes engine last term:

One player who could make room in the Blues' midfield department is Dutch playmaker Van Ginkel, but Antonio Conte's delayed move to Stamford Bridge has put a halt on his permanent switch to PSV.

Conte will move to Chelsea after his commitments with Italy at Euro 2016, and MailOnline's Oliver Todd reported the futures of numerous fringe players will be delayed as a result. PSV are eager to pen the 23-year-old's signature after he enjoyed a resurgence on loan since February, as detailed by Dutch Football:

Van Ginkel has made just four senior appearances for Chelsea since moving to west London from Vitesse Arnhem in 2013, being loaned to Milan, Stoke City and PSV after sitting out for seven months with a knee injury.

The Netherlands international showed extreme promise during his early days in the Eredivisie, and Conte may yet come to find Van Ginkel is worth further examination before he decides to sell.
