Bayer have beaten off numerous top clubs to sign the talented forward, with Liverpool having been previously linked to him, per TalkSport.
Playing through the middle and on both flanks in the 2015-16 Bundesliga season, Volland netted eight goals and provided seven assists in 33 appearances, per WhoScored.com.
His versatility undoubtedly would have been a key attraction for Bayer, who will be in the Champions League next season after a third-place finish in the Bundesliga.
German football writer Stefan Bienkowski hailed a decent piece of business from Leverkusen for snapping up the want-away Volland:
He has long been considered an excellent talent in the Bundesliga, his best German top-flight return with Hoffenheim coming in the 2013-14 season when he netted 11 goals, per WhoScored.
Statsbomb's Ted Knutson suggested that Volland should potentially have come on more now given his early potential:
"Kevin Volland announced for Leverkusen this morning at 18M euros. Seems fine, but given his stats when younger, thought he'd be better now

But his switch to Bayer could well be the catalyst for his return to top form, and he will surely be a vital player next season at the BayArena.
