Manchester United Transfer News: Huge David De Gea, Louis Van Gaal Quit Rumours
David De Gea is reportedly "ready to quit Manchester United" if Louis van Gaal remains as manager beyond the summer.
According to Ralph Ellis and Jack Gaughan in the Daily Mail, the 25-year-old goalkeeper "will press to make the move [to Real Madrid] happen" if the Dutchman stays on as boss next season as he has become "disenchanted" with Van Gaal at Old Trafford.
Bleacher Report's Dean Jones previously made a similar claim while indicating that the arrival of Jose Mourinho as United boss would increase the chances of De Gea staying put:

Spanish outlet AS reported that De Gea still wants to move to Real following the deadline-day collapse of his potential switch to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium last summer, via Sport Witness:
He subsequently signed a new four-year contract with United after the collapse of his move, but the Red Devils have endured another disappointing season in 2015-16 and are all but guaranteed to miss out on UEFA Champions League football next term.
They could still win the FA Cup—they face Crystal Palace in the final on Saturday—but United remain way behind the top European sides in terms of quality, and look to be going backward under Van Gaal having claimed fourth spot in the Premier League last season, per the Manchester Evening News' Samuel Luckhurst:
The football United have played under the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss over the last two seasons has been uninspired and unpopular, and results have not improved.
Spaniard De Gea is arguably United's best player—he is the only Old Trafford star to make it into the top 10 for Premier League players in 2015-16, per Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe:
He is also arguably the best goalkeeper in the world and deserves to be playing for a club perennially contending for titles—like Real.
It would be unsurprising were he to look to force a move away from Manchester, but given his importance to the side, his reported readiness to leave could be another nail in the coffin of Van Gaal's tenure at Old Trafford.
The 64-year-old's United career is already hanging by a thread, and even if he leads his side to FA Cup glory, he is likely to be given the boot, per football writer Sam Pilger:
If he is sacked, it is unlikely to be a decision met with much disappointment among United fans, especially if it means De Gea staying on at the club for longer.
The goalkeeper is a top-class talent and could yet be one of the best in the world for the next decade or more—not something that can any longer be said of Van Gaal.
De Gea is a vital player at United, perhaps their most important, and his continuing presence will be necessary if the Manchester outfit are to return to the status of Premier League title contenders in the near future.
If he is unhappy under the Van Gaal reign, far from being a major problem, it should be yet another signal to the United hierarchy that it is time they let the Dutchman go.
