Virginia Tech landed 4-star shooting guard prospect Nickeil Alexander-Walker for its 2017 recruiting class on Thursday, UA Canada Elite announced:
A native Canadian who was transplanted to Missouri and is now playing at Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Tennessee, Alexander-Walker is the No. 2 prospect in Missouri, the No. 14 shooting guard in the nation and the No. 62 overall recruit, per 247Sports' composite ratings.

At 6'5", 175 pounds, Alexander-Walker has all the intangibles to be a dangerous offensive weapon operating from the wing.
He can shoot the three, run the floor well and can finish with either hand at the rim. He also has great body control given his lanky stature, though at such a young age, he has time to fill out before heading to Virginia Tech.
Outside of Hamilton Heights, Alexander-Walker plays for the Canada Elite team in the Under Armour Association circuit and gave Virginia Tech a recruiting advantage.
Hokies assistant coach Jamie McNeilly is also from Canada and built a close relationship with Alexander-Walker, who spoke with Josh Gershon of Scout.com back in March:
"I have a really close relationship with their assistant, Jamie McNeilly. He’s practically like family and going there, I know he would have my back. Coach Buzz (Williams) is going to push you every day and make sure you’re getting better. He’ll give you 100% and you have no choice but to get better with him, especially if you take it seriously.
"
Things are really starting to look up for Virginia Tech under head coach Buzz Williams. After going 11-22 in his first year in 2014-15, the Hokies went 20-15, their first 20-win season since 2010-11.
Getting a talent like Alexander-Walker will also fill the void that is bound to be left by the departure of guards Devin Wilson and Seth Allen at the end of the 2016-17 season, per Raphielle Johnson of College Basketball Talk.
That means Walker-Alexander could get playing time upon his arrival and develop into a huge weapon. He could only help Virginia Tech's chances of being competitive in a loaded ACC that features North Carolina, Duke, Syracuse and Notre Dame.
