Aguilar enjoyed an excellent round on Friday to follow up his fairly strong first showing. Indeed, he made the same number of birdies, but this time did not drop a single shot.
He picked up shots on the two par fives of the front nine—the fourth and the eighth—in an otherwise quiet opening to the round, but five on the back nine at the 10th, 11th, 14th, 16th and 18th saw him race to the top of the standings.
According to the European Tour, he was pleased with his round, which has seen him make the cut two weeks running after six successive failures:
"I played quite solid today, I don't think I missed one green. I played quite consistently throughout my first two rounds so I'm quite happy. It's been a tough start to the year so hopefully this will be a turnaround for me. I struggled with a couple of bad shots but I ended up being in the right spots on the right greens.
"
Tyrrell Hatton also had reason to be pleased after carding a five-under 67, though the Englishman was later caught out by the storm during a bit of sight-seeing:
Taehoon Kim provided one of the highlights of the round when he holed out from the tee at the 13th, per European Tour:
According to the European Tour, he said: "It was about 165 metres, but the view from the tee, we couldn't see the hole, only the top of the flag. I was aiming a little to the left of the pin and I just hit a seven iron, it was a beautiful shot and the galleries beside the green shouted out so that's how I knew."
The Korean's remarkable round also saw him pick up seven birdies, with his only blemish coming at 17th to prevent him tying with Noren and Wiesberger.
Nicolas Colsaerts also played one of the shots of the day—his incredible 23-yard putt to birdie the sixth:
He also made gains at the third and an eagle at the eighth in an unblemished round, but after making just one birdie in his first nine holes he narrowly missed out on a top-10 spot.
Thursday's leader Hennie Otto only managed par in his 14 holes but could still climb to the top of the standings before Aguilar next tees off, as could Marcel Siem who managed five under in his 13.
With so many players so close together it's all set up for a thrilling moving day.
