Jurgen Klopp Talks Draw, Jordan Henderson Injury After Dortmund 1-1 Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp felt Liverpool deserved to win against his old side Borussia Dortmund, despite earning a creditable 1-1 draw at the Westfalenstadion in their UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg on Thursday night.
But the Liverpool manager did offer worrying news on Jordan Henderson's injury while also taking the blame for Dortmund's equaliser.
Despite Divock Origi pinching a vital away goal in the first half, Klopp told BT Sport, "We could've won the game." But Dortmund denied that chance to Liverpool when BVB captain Mats Hummels headed home a Henrikh Mkhitaryan cross barely three minutes into the second half, a goal Klopp described as "not too necessary:"

Klopp also went into more details about skipper Henderson's injury after the midfielder had to be substituted at halftime in favour of Joe Allen, per Tony Barrett of the Times:
Henderson's expression sent a clear signal about the extent of his injury. Press Association reporter Carl Markham noted the player's understandably sullen demeanour afterwards:
Losing a key figure at the heart of midfield is far from good news ahead of the second leg. But Liverpool are still in good shape despite being undone from another set piece.
Speaking about Hummels' equaliser, Klopp took some responsibility for the way his side was undermined, according to Barrett:
Overall though, Klopp was pleased with how resolute his team stayed at the back, per DW Sports:
He made a point of saluting his team's "organisation" and "big passion," via the club's official site:
There were indeed some heroic defensive efforts from Liverpool. In particular, centre-backs Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren both stood tall.
At the other end, this stat from the competition's official site backs up Klopp's belief his side could have scored more goals:
Ultimately though, Klopp has to be satisfied with getting a commendable draw on his old stomping ground.
While he insisted his players won't get carried away by this result, Klopp did back both teams to produce another stirring spectacle in the return leg:
If Liverpool can replicate the same stubborn solidity at the back while mustering a similar threat on the break, Klopp's men can complete a fantastic result at Anfield.
