The Masters 2016: Complete TV and Live-Stream Guide for Opening Round

Rob GoldbergApr 6, 2016

The Masters Tournament has provided plenty of memorable moments over the years, and the 2016 version can be more of the same with so many top golfers battling for a green jacket.

Last year's event was somewhat of a breakout moment for Jordan Spieth as he took home his first career major title, although big names such as Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy were right behind him on a stacked leaderboard. Plenty of high-profile players will be back and ready to make their mark on this historic course.

While you likely won't get a chance to walk through Augusta National Golf Club and follow the event in person, there are plenty of ways to watch along at home throughout the week.

Can Jason Day Keep His Momentum?

AUGUSTA, GEORGIA - APRIL 04: Jason Day of Australia plays a shot during a practice round prior to the start of the 2016 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club on April 4, 2016 in Augusta, Georgia. (Photo by Andrew Redington/Getty Images)

The most recent major winner is also the hottest player in the world at the moment. After coming close many times, Jason Day took home his first major title at last year's PGA Championship, but this was apparently only the start of his dominance. Since then, he has won a handful of titles in various events, and that has continued in recent weeks.

In Day's last two events on American soil, the Australian won the Arnold Palmer Invitational and then cruised through the bracket to win the WGC-Dell Match Play title.

According to Odds Shark, Day is the favorite to keep up his pace with a win at the Masters. Of course, the golfer won't admit as much if you ask him, per ESPN.com's Jason Sobel:

There are obviously a number of other contenders, but whether Day believes it, the expectations are now there for him to win. With his talent and consistency, the rest of the field should be scared.

Will a Former Winner Take Over?

Considering this event is at the same location every year, experience usually goes a long way. Those who play well at Augusta tend to do so again in the future.

Spieth is the defending champion and is one of the favorites once again, but don't count out a number of other former winners. Bubba Watson struggled last year, but he already owns two green jackets and is off to a strong 2016 with two titles and a second-place finish. His strong play and positive memories from this course could lead to another championship.

You can also never count out Mickelson at Augusta. Lefty has won three titles here and finished in second place a year ago. Justin Ray of Golf Channel also noted how a strong start to the year usually results in a great finish at the Masters:

Mickelson doesn't have a first-place finish yet this year, but he does have three finishes in the top five and knows more about this course than anyone else in the field.

Don't forget about Adam Scott and Zach Johnson also looking to add another Masters win to their resumes.

Who Will Be This Year's Sleeper?

ORLANDO, FL - MARCH 20: Amateur Bryson DeChambeau of the United States hits his tee shot on the eighth hole during the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard at Bay Hill Club and Lodge on March 20, 2016 in Orlando, Florida

It isn't easy to break out when so many elite golfers are at the top of their game, but every so often someone figures out a way to sneak into the top 10.

As far as less notable options who could win, players such as Hideki Matsuyama, Louis Oosthuizen and Paul Casey are a few to watch. However, there are some men deeper down the list who would just be happy to see their names on the leaderboard. One player in this group to keep an eye on is Bryson DeChambeau, a 22-year-old amateur from SMU.

ESPN.com's Michael Collins listed the NCAA champion and U.S. Amateur winner as one of the sleepers in the field, while the odds to win are starting to shorten, according to Will Gray of Golf Channel:

Obviously, a win would be incredible, but simply making the cut and competing with the best in the world would be a major accomplishment for this young star.
