Liverpool Transfer News: Mario Gotze Cryptic over Future, Latest Reds Rumours
Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze was giving little away when asked about his future recently, as rumours of a transfer to Liverpool begin to gather pace.
Paul Joyce of the Daily Express reported on Tuesday that the Reds were increasingly confident of agreeing a deal for the player for a fee as little as £15 million. Later that day, the midfielder netted for Germany in their 4-1 friendly win against Italy, and he was quizzed on his peripheral position at the Allianz Arena after the match.
As reported by Jonathan Green of the Daily Star, Gotze stated “what comes will come” and that “the most important thing is to be playing again. I've really missed it over the past few months.”

Here’s a look at the goal netted by the Bayern man in the victory over the Azzurri, per BT Sport Football:
Gotze has not been in the starting lineup much this season, whether due to the injury problems that have blemished his time at Bayern or simply not being selected by manager Pep Guardiola.

Should he move to Liverpool, who don’t have attacking firepower that measures up to that of Bayern’s, a key spot in the first team would surely be on the cards. Bleacher Report’s Clark Whitney thinks the player needs trust shown in him:
At Anfield, working under former manager Jurgen Klopp, Gotze would certainly get that. It’s been tough for the player, but that's looking more and more likely to be to Liverpool’s benefit.
Joe Allen, Jordon Ibe Linked with Watford

According to Andy Hunter of the Guardian, Watford are plotting a double raid on Liverpool, with Joe Allen and Jordon Ibe said to be on their radar.
As noted in the piece, Allen’s contract with the club is due to expire next summer and after negotiations over new terms started earlier in the season, Hunter has stated there has been no movement since Klopp took over. Ibe, meanwhile, has struggled to make much of an impression under the German.
Sports journalist Sam May feels as though Allen has a lot to offer the Reds:
"Since Joe Allen has grown that beard, he's been a different player. Long may it stay! Reds on fire, outstanding #LFC #SOULIV #SFCvLFC

The midfielder has done well when handed an opportunity by Klopp, marrying a willingness to hustle opposition defenders with a composure on the ball. However, if he wants regular first-team football, it looks increasingly likely he’ll have to move elsewhere.

Ibe is a player who seemed destined for the top when he burst onto the scene, but he’s failed to kick on this term. As noted by the Daily Mail’s Dominic King, the 20-year-old is finding things tough at the moment:
As perhaps the only natural winger in the Liverpool squad, you’d think there’s a role for Ibe to play at Anfield for the remainder of the campaign should he rediscover his spark. Cashing in on him may be a little premature; plenty of young footballers go through peaks and troughs before finding consistency.
