Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest on Neymar and Sergio Aguero Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenMar 23, 2016

Real Madrid left-back Marcelo thinks it would be difficult for his club to sign Barcelona star Neymar, while Sergio Aguero's deal with Manchester City reportedly doesn't include an anti-Real clause, opening the door for a potential transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Speaking to Globoesporte (h/t Sport), Marcelo revealed he and Neymar don't talk much about football while they're on international duty with Brazil.

He then weighed in on the possibility Neymar would move to Los Blancos, saying: “We joke about other things [laughs]. We don’t talk about football much, so I don’t know...  But I think it would be difficult for Neymar, who is making history with Barcelona, to come to Real Madrid. I think it would be difficult.”

Per Sport, there have been persistent rumours linking Neymar with an unlikely move to the Spanish capital, although the player remains adamant he won't be leaving the Blaugrana, as he told Globo (via Sport): “I am very happy at Barcelona. It's a team in which I feel at home. I get on with my team-mates very well. I don't see myself leaving Barcelona."

Per Bleacher Report UK, that's good news for Barcelona fans:

He has already scored a remarkable 21 goals and added 10 assists in La Liga this season, per WhoScored.com, doing his part to help Barcelona on the road to a second consecutive treble.

Teaming up with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, he is a part of an attacking front unlike any other in world football, and one that may already rank among the greatest of all time. Of the three, he's the youngest and the player the Catalans would likely be most desperate to keep hold off.

But that is complicated by Barcelona's current financial issues. As explained by Sky Sports' Guillem Balague, the Blaugrana can't add to their current wage structure, and that's keeping them from signing Neymar to a new deal:

"

Barcelona cannot afford to give new contracts to Lionel Messi, Suarez and Neymar as it stands - financially they do not have the power to do so. They need to bring a lot of money in, if they do that they will be able to keep them, but if they don't they may have to get rid of one. That's why Neymar keeps leaving the door open for United and others.

"

He's been linked with just about every major club in Europe, including Real, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, per Ed Malyon and Richard Innes of the Daily Mirror.

It's easy to see why all of those clubs would be interested in a deal. The Brazil international is one of the most uniquely gifted players in the sport, combining flair, vision and pace with an incredible eye for goal, as you can see in the video below:

The Blaugrana will do what they can to keep hold of such a precious talent, but even if they were forced into a sale, the club would most likely ship him off to the Premier League before even entertaining the idea of selling to their bitter rivals.

Meanwhile, Football Leaks have published what is believed to be the contract signed between Atletico Madrid and Manchester City, and that document doesn't include a clause prohibiting the Citizens from selling the Argentinian to Los Blancos, per Marca.

Per the report, such clauses have become the norm in recent years: “It is worth remembering that other recent revelations from Football Leaks have shown that Real Madrid did, on the other hand, insert 'anti-Barca' clauses into the deals that took Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil to Manchester United and Arsenal respectively.”

The Sun's Antony Kastrinakis claimed Real have set their eyes on the City forward, with a major shopping spree expected to take place this summer, before their impending transfer ban becomes official.

But the 27-year-old maintains he has no interest in leaving the Etihad Stadium anytime soon, and he recently told La Uno (h/t talkSPORT) he hopes to move back to Argentina once his current contract with City runs out:

"

It's clear that I'm going to return to Independiente and retire there. My family know that... I'm going to go there when my contract with Manchester City finishes in 2018.

Here (at City) they know what I want to do, they know I want to return to Argentina.

I'm giving you my word that I want to return to Avellaneda when I leave England.

"

The absence of a clause prohibiting City from selling to Real may boost their chances of landing Aguero, but those chances still appear slim at best. City are flush with cash and have no reason to sell, and the Argentinian doesn't seem too keen on a move, either.
