Bangladesh take on India in a must-win fixture for the Tigers on Wednesday. Bangladesh are currently bottom of their group and are all but knocked out of the tournament. A win will just about keep their hopes alive, but it will need to be significant in order to bolster their net run rate.

Venue: M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore

Date: Wednesday, March 23

Weather: According to AccuWeather.com, it's going to be hot and sweaty, with day temperatures climbing to 36 degrees Celsius during the day, dipping to about 24 degrees in the evening.

Overview

Another day, another match between these two. When India and Bangladesh meet in the World T20 this week, it will be the third T20 between them in the last three weeks. They played each other twice during the Asia Cup earlier this month and will now do so once more.

Prior to these three quickfire fixtures, the two sides had played each other just twice in the format before so there certainly won’t be a feeling of over-familiarity, certainly not with Bangladesh still searching for their maiden win against India.

On Monday, Bangladesh were pretty ordinary with the bat, ball and with their fielding. Despite having played the group-stage fixtures before the Super Tens, Bangladesh seemingly have not clicked, and they will need to engineer a dramatic turnaround if they are to have any hope of beating India.

There are some serious questions for Mashrafe Mortaza to answer. The captain didn't bat and bowled just one over in their defeat to Australia, a decision that left the TV commentators baffled. Mortaza and his charges will have a point to prove, and there is no better way to do it than beating one of the big teams.

The World T20 hosts are certainly favourites heading into this fixture. They headed into the tournament as frontrunners to win it and, despite losing their opening fixture against New Zealand, bounced back with an impressive six-wicket win over Pakistan.

They have, however, only ever played one T20 in Bangalore. Bangladesh played here on Monday so will know what to expect and will have, hopefully, learned a few lessons.

Key players

India

Virat Kohli was exceptional in India's victory over Pakistan. His unbeaten 55 was the best knock for either sides, and he was the only player who looked completely untroubled on a slightly tricky pitch. This victory is also his IPL home ground so he'll be well-acquainted with the conditions.

Bangladesh

Against Australia, the wicket kept just a little bit low, and Shakib Al Hasan exploited the conditions, taking three for 27. He also chipped in with the bat, hitting 33 off 25, and has the added advantage of IPL experience so he'll know exactly how to bowl to India.

Squads

India: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Pawan Negi, Mohammed Shami, Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah, Harbhajan Singh, Hardik Pandya

Bangladesh: Mashrafe Mortaza, Abu Hider, Arafat Sunny, Mohammad Mithun, Nurul Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Taskin Ahmed, Tamim Iqbal, Sabbir Rahman, Nasir Hossain, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mustafizur Rahman, Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan, Al-Amin Hossain
