Liverpool Transfer News: Fernando Targeted by Jurgen Klopp, Latest Rumours
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly eyeing a £10 million summer move for Manchester City midfielder Fernando.
Per Andrew Dillon in the Sun, Fernando, 28, is expected to become available in the summer when Pep Guardiola is installed as manager at City, and although a return to FC Porto for the Brazilian has been mooted, Klopp is now trying to hijack the move.
The report added that the German manager wants to move quickly in the summer transfer window in order to build a settled squad, and he has been "monitoring the situation with Fernando."

Fernando is not a regular in the Sky Blues' first team and has started only 11 of their 29 Premier League games this season, per WhoScored.com.
However, he is an accomplished central-midfield player with great experience, and he could bolster the Reds' midfield significantly.
It seems likely he could become available as well, with Guardiola expected to make big changes to the City squad when he comes in—as discussed below by Bleacher Report's Dean Jones and Sam Tighe:
City signed Fernando for £12 million from Porto in 2014, and he is contracted to the Etihad Stadium outfit until 2019.
If he is seen as expendable, he should be available for a reasonable price, but City would surely be more open to selling him to Porto than a Premier League rival, a factor that could prove problematic for Liverpool.
Elsewhere, the news that City will not pursue Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has boosted Liverpool in their reported pursuit of the German stopper.

Per MailOnline's Pete Jenson, Barca would be willing to sell the 23-year-old "if the price is right," as they need to fund new contracts for Neymar, Sergio Busquets and Lionel Messi.
The report added that Liverpool and Manchester United are both interested in Ter Stegen—and the Red Devils only if David De Gea leaves—but City will not pursue his signing, as "Guardiola is set to put his complete trust in Joe Hart."
It has been widely reported that Ter Stegen is not entirely satisfied at Barca, as he has to play second fiddle to Claudio Bravo, and he said earlier this week that he is "not interested in being the goalkeeper of the future," per Jenson.
It is a genuine possibility he could leave in the summer, per Sport's Samuel Marsden:
He would be a fantastic signing for Liverpool, not least because the Reds' current No. 1, Simon Mignolet, is something of a liability, per Squawka Football:
Ter Stegen is immensely talented and could be one of the top goalkeepers in the world over the next decade and beyond.
With City having reportedly dropped out of the race to sign him, Liverpool could be on the verge of snapping him up in the summer.
