Cornell's Xavier Eaglin Arrested, Facing 1st-Degree Rape Charges
Cornell men's basketball forward Xavier Eaglin was arrested Sunday and charged with first-degree rape and first-degree criminal sex act.
According to the Associated Press, Eaglin was arraigned Monday in Ithaca, New York, and is being held on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
Per Joon Lee and Stephanie Yan of the Cornell Daily Sun, Eaglin was more specifically charged with first-degree rape and three counts of first-degree criminal sexual assault, as well as criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation in relation to an alleged strangulation.

Further specifics regarding the case have yet to be released, and Cornell University hasn't commented on the matter.
The 19-year-old Eaglin is a freshman from Raywood, Texas, who played sparingly during his first season with the Big Red. He appeared in just seven games, averaging 1.3 minutes per contest, with no points, one rebound, one assist, one block and one steal to his credit.
With a record of 10-18, Cornell will almost certainly not be playing postseason basketball, which provides plenty of time for the university to handle the Eaglin matter.
Per Lee and Yan, the Cornell University Police Department said that Eaglin's preliminary hearing will take place Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Update: All charges against Eaglin were dismissed on April 12, 2017, according to court records.
