Barcelona have unveiled the designs of what their Camp Nou stadium will look like following upcoming renovations planned on increasing the capacity from 95,000 to 105,000.

Per MailOnline's Oliver ToddJapanese architects Nikken Sekkei and Catalan studio Pascual i Ausio Arquitectes won the tender for the upgrade.

Work on the revamp will begin in the summer of 2017 and is set to take four years, at a cost of €600 million (£465 million), but the Blaugrana will not be required to move out of the stadium at any point.

Todd's report explained that the development will be partly financed by a stadium sponsor, as is currently the form at clubs like Arsenal, Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

The increased earnings that will result from the bigger capacity and a loan will make up the rest of the necessary investment.

club statement explained the reasons behind their decision on the architects:

"

The Nikken Sekkei + Pascual i Ausio Arquitectes proposal stands out for being open, elegant, serene, timeless Mediterranean and democratic.

It is also notable for its relationship with the environment, providing depth, creating shadows and making members the stars of the facade and of the open area at all times. The proposal presents a very subtle attempt to intervene in the environment to facilitate circulation and achieve diverse urban usage in the Barça Campus and guarantees a clear and safe construction.

In short, it is a unique solution, reproducing the characteristic vision of the grandstand and canopy, from the inside out, a silent and powerful tribute to the stadium built by Francesc Mitjans in 1957.

"

Club president Josep Maria Bartomeu also made a brief comment on Twitter:

The Camp Nou is already Europe's biggest stadium, and a fortress for their superlative side—Barca have not lost a competitive match there since a 1-0 defeat by Malaga in February 2015.

Its renovation and expansion are just another indication from Barca of their intention to dominate European football in the years to come.

They have been the major force on the continent for the last decade, winning four of the last 10 Champions League finals.

And they are currently the best team in Europe, on track to win the Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey for the second season running, per Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe:

The Camp Nou is already an intimidating place to visit for any opposing team, and it will only become more daunting when the revamp is done in 2021 and there are even more Blaugrana fans in the stands.
