Barcelona Transfer News: Latest on Marc Bartra, Sergio Gomez Exit Rumours
Barcelona are reportedly ready to part ways with centre-back Marc Bartra, setting a €12 million price tag for the 25-year-old but insisting on a buy-back clause. Meanwhile, Liverpool are reportedly eyeing young talent Sergio Gomez.
According to Lluis Miguelsanz of Sport, both Barcelona and Bartra feel it's best for the player to leave the Catalans this summer, handing him the opportunity to earn some more playing time elsewhere.
His former agent Javier Diaz previously told Cope (h/t Daily Express' James Gray) he also believes Bartra may have to leave the club to salvage his career, saying:

"I do not know what happens with Bartra but I know Marc is a very ambitious person and in a situation you should not like. That is very clear. As a footballer, I think the best thing to do is try to turn the tables.
If it continues, it is normal to leave.
Marc is playing less than last year. When you're playing more and more, you can see the light.
But if the first year you play 18 games, the second 25, third 28 and fourth 15 is normal things happen to you in the head.
"
Per WhoScored.com, Bartra has only started three matches in La Liga all season long, and he's currently Barcelona's fifth option in defence, behind Gerard Pique, Javier Mascherano, Thomas Vermaelen and Jeremy Mathieu.
The La Masia product was once regarded as Barcelona's next great defender, but manager Luis Enrique seems to have little faith in his abilities. Enrique has left the defender out of his squad more often than not the last few months, and per Bleacher Report's Rik Sharma, he should be doing everything possible to leave the Camp Nou:
Per Miguelsanz, Manchester United and Fiorentina are both interested in his services, and more offers are expected. Bartra reportedly wants to sign for a team that will play in next year's UEFA Champions League, and Tottenham Hotspur are mentioned as the most attractive destination.
The inclusion of a buy-back clause could complicate matters, however. Barcelona have made a habit of including such clauses in their deals of late, giving them the chance to bring the likes of Denis Suarez or Adama Traore back to the Camp Nou if they make good on their potential.
Bartra is older than both of those players, however, and top clubs will not be interested in developing Barcelona's players for them, only to lose them again if they do become good. The Spaniard is a good player, as you can see in the highlights below, but he's no longer the type of super-talent that will entice teams all over the continent:
If Bartra really wants to play Champions League football next season and Barcelona will hold out for a €12 million fee, the potential suitors will be limited to the bigger clubs, who won't be too happy about any buy-back clause. There are other and better options out there who may be available without any strings attached.
Meanwhile, Marca's Luis F. Rojo reported Liverpool will try to lure Gomez to the Premier League when the player turns 16, hoping to take advantage of Barcelona's financial difficulties and their inability to offer the youngster a big contract once he becomes eligible to sign.
Per the report, the Reds have already been “in contact,” with scouts following the teenager ever since he starred in a 4-3 win over Liverpool during a youth tournament in Abu Dhabi.
The attacking midfielder currently plays for Cadet A and has impressed mightily with his ability to pull the strings behind the forwards:
Barcelona have worked hard to develop the talented youngster, and they must now hope they can use that to keep him at the club once he turns 16. Liverpool will likely present a very enticing offer in the form of a wage packet, something the Blaugrana simply cannot match under current financial fair play regulations, per Sport's Xavi Canals.
