Oscar Pistorius Denied Right to Appeal Murder Conviction of Reeva Steenkamp
Former Olympic and Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius has been denied the right to appeal his murder conviction by the constitutional court of South Africa. The 29-year-old will be sentenced for the murder of Reeva Steenkamp on April 18, as reported by SportsCentre.
Sky Sports News HQ also confirmed the news.
A six-time Paralympic gold medal winner, Pistorius shot and killed his then-girlfriend Steenkamp in 2013, per CNN. According to BBC's Milton Nkosi, he's currently on house arrest as he awaits the sentencing phase of his murder conviction.

Nkosi reported that Pistorius said he mistook Steenkamp for a burglar, firing four shots through a locked door.
Per Sky News, Pistorius was originally convicted of manslaughter, but the conviction was upgraded to murder in December by an appeals court. Pistorius appealed that decision, with the constitutional court offering the final hope to overturn the verdict.
With all avenues to appeal now exhausted, Pistorius faces a minimum jail sentence of 15 years, per Sky News.
