First Official Look at the Nike Air Jordan 2 Retro 'Wing It'
All hail the Air Jordan II "Wing It" edition. As part of Jordan Brand’s Poster Collection, this model was crafted to reflect the historic marketing campaign that accompanied the Air Jordan II when it first hit all the way back in 1986.
The symbolic poster was produced in black and white. It showcased a front-end, film-noir shot of the kicks, complemented solely by a strand of text that read, “Wing It.”

Now, some 30 years later, that famous slogan is set to be reborn in the form of a special-edition sneaker.

Air Jordan II supporters, champions and journeymen alike will be all over these grails. When you first unbox the shoes, an endless trail of white leather overwhelms you. That particular choice of color gives the Wing It II a deluxe feel from the jump.
The sneaker's design also presents itself in a contrasting manner, thanks to Jordan Brand’s use of black layering on the laces, ankle, midsole and heel. Accents of black, staggered over a white base, are enough to make these kicks pop in an on-foot capacity.

We can talk about the color scheme all we want. That’s good and well. But it’s the minutiae of the Air Jordan II Wing It that becomes the most important part of the conversation.
Details run rampant here. It's easy to become infatuated by the faux crocodile pattern that's been etched along the core of the shoe. That effect, specifically layered onto the upper, works for this shoe in two critical ways.

First off, the sneaker looks great with that type of detailing attached to it. Secondly, consumers who worry about the degenerative effects of "sneaker creasing" will be relieved. Croc-lined kicks tend to age better than other shoes.
But the real crowning achievement of this particular Air Jordan II lies on the heel of each individual shoe. That’s the area where the words “Wing” and “It” are prominently displayed for the world to see.

For all intents and purposes, the Air Jordan II broke down barriers in the sneaker world. It was a big-time transition from the Jordan I, and as Brandon Edler of Complex wrote, “the shoe was the first Nike shoe to not feature Swoosh branding anywhere on the sneaker.”

This sneaker was also significant from a brand perspective. It would be the last Air Jordan designed by Peter Moore. Tinker Hatfield would take over the creative reins after its release.
Be on the lookout this Saturday for the outstanding Air Jordan II Wing It to finally make contact with retailers. Selling for $190, this celebrated release should not be slept on.
