Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
In a season where there are several teams that can make cases as legitimate championship contenders, no squad has been more consistent than the Villanova Wildcats.
At 25-4, 'Nova has the sparkling record of a No. 1 seed. It has no bad losses, as each of its defeats have come to teams that were ranked in the Top 20. Head coach Jay Wright got his team together after those losses, but Wright would prefer to learn and win, per Joe Juliano of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
"I really believe it's best to win and look at your mistakes," Wright said. "We try to do a good job of being honest with our guys even when we win. We can do that, and we want to do that."
The Wildcats have built a resume that is likely strong enough to get them a No. 1 seed even if they lose in the Big East tournament.
South: Xavier Musketeers
Could the Big East have two No. 1 seeds? You bet.
Look for the Xavier Musketeers to face 'Nova in the Big East tournament title game. The last time the two teams met, Xavier defeated 'Nova 90-83 on February 24.
That victory should give the Musketeers a path to a No. 1 seed. While 'Nova may get the nod in the East region, Xavier looks to be a potential pick in the South.
If Xavier reaches the Big East tourney final, it will have validated its case for a top seed. A loss by the Virginia Cavaliers to the Duke Blue Devils or North Carolina Tar Heels in the ACC tournament will only help Xavier's campaign.
Midwest: Michigan State Spartans

The Michigan State Spartans came out of the gates with 13 straight wins. They had to endure a three-game losing streak in January, but the team has hit its stride again of late.
The Spartans look like the class of the Big Ten, and that should lead to victory in the conference tournament. Head coach Tom Izzo has guided the Spartans to seven Final Four appearances and won one national championship.
Their good finish and reputation as strong tournament performers will lock up a No. 1 seed.
West: Kansas Jayhawks
The door is open for a Big 12 outfit to take the top seed in the West. One Big 12 team is going to get a No. 1 seed, and it's between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Oklahoma Sooners.
The pick here is the Jayhawks.
Kansas has won both head-to-head meetings with the Sooners. Even if the two teams meet in the finals of the conference tournament and the Sooners win, Kansas would still deserve the No. 1 seed—provided it doesn't lose to the Texas Longhorns or the Iowa State Cyclones.
It's tough to beat a team three times in one season, but the Jayhawks should have the Sooners one more time if it comes to that.
