Wednesday Recap
The world was watching and waiting for Messi to claim yet another slice of history against Gijon, and the masterful artist did not disappoint, as he scored his 300th Spanish league goal.
Suarez played the role of creator for both of Messi's strikes, feeding the Argentina international for his brace.
Bleacher Report UK celebrated the player's new record:
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu also congratulated the forward:

However, Gijon muted Messi's opener only two minutes after his first goal, as Carlos Castro finished off a devastating counter-attack.
Barca reclaimed the lead four minutes later, as Messi collected his second, and his club's 10,000th goal in team history, according to Lewis Jones of Sky Sports.
It appeared Suarez would hit Barca's third of the night from the penalty spot shortly after the one-hour mark, but the Uruguay ace saw his effort stopped by goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar.

Cuellar had fouled Suarez as the penalty was awarded, and he immediately turned from villain to hero in a matter of seconds.
However, the former Liverpool hitman made up for his miss with a sumptuous curling effort six minutes later, leaving the Sporting No. 1 no chance.
Sky Sports Statto highlighted the player's record this term:
Barca's grip on the title tightened on Wednesday, and the quality exuded by Messi, Suarez and Neymar has reached new levels.
The league leaders appear unstoppable as they race to a second treble at home and abroad, and it is bemusing to consider a viable challenger to their dominance.
Messi has now raced through the 300-goal barrier at only 28, and he is likely to thrash the current total by the time his playing career is over.
