David May: 'Give It Giggs Until the End of the Season' If Van Gaal Is Sacked
Former Manchester United defender David May has become the latest ex-player to criticise the club's direction under Louis van Gaal.
May channelled superfan Andy Tate by suggesting Ryan Giggs should replace the incumbent manager if he were let go, telling 888sport (via the Mirror) the United board should "give it Giggs until the end of the season."
The criticism stems from May's belief United will struggle to attract the world's top players if they fail to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League, with the side struggling in sixth.

He told 888sport (via the Mirror):
"You hear it every day where Bale is coming or Cristiano Ronaldo is coming back and I realise they have to sell newspapers but never in a million years is it going to happen.
Don’t get me wrong I would love Gareth Bale to come to Old Trafford. But is it going to happen? I can’t see it. Not right now. Top players always want to play in the Champions League and if United do miss out will Bale come to United?
It becomes a huge burden if United don't get in the Champions League.
"
May made 118 appearances in nine seasons at Old Trafford and was a part of the side that won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League treble in 1999.
